A Big YES to the Kreg Jig K5!

Kreg Tool Company has made some great improvements to the Kreg Jig K5.

We have used the Kreg Jig K4 Master System for 5 years, and still think it is a great tool.  Ours will continue to see lots of use!

But if you have NOT purchased your own Kreg Jig yet, seriously consider the Kreg Jig K5.

And if you already own a Kreg Jig, and love tools, like I do, spoil yourself with an upgrade to the most advanced Kreg jig yet!

The Innovative Kreg Jig K5 is Faster and Easier Than Ever!
Check Out The
LONG List of Changes

The Clamp Holding the Wood in Place is now a Ratcheting Clamp.

Once you set it for the wood width - i.e. 3/4" - you can just keep clamping that size wood without readjusting.  And it holds fantastically well!

The Handle for the Clamp is Now in The Front!

For some people this is not a big deal, but for those of us with shorter arms this is a wonderful feature!  I no longer have to reach around my piece of wood to lock it into place!  I no longer have to worry about knocking the wood out of position while trying to lock it into place.

So much faster and so much easier! Love it!

The Kreg Jig K5 Comes With Extension Wings!

This improvement has two benefits.

The First Benefit is that Your Longer Wood Pieces are Supported!

Using the Kreg Jig K4 Master System was a breeze when drilling pocket holes in narrower pieces.  But when you get a piece that is wide, and then, of course, much heavier you needed to prop up the end farthest away from the Kreg jig to get the pocket holes perpendicular to the edge.  It was a real pain.

(If you have a K4, check out the Kreg Jig Storage Plan, which helps to solve this problem, too.)

With the extension wings included in the Kreg Jig K5, your wood is supported for up to 12" inches on each side of the hole you are drilling.  No extra set up required.

Again much faster, easier, and better quality results.

The Second Benefit is That You Have Storage Space!

I want to have everything needed for a step right at my finger tips, and am constantly rearranging to make things handier.  No need to do that here!  Each wing opens to provide space to store your pocket hole drill bits, your hex wrench to adjust the stop collar on your drill bit, your workpiece stop, your pocket screw driver bit, and other small pieces you would like to keep handy.

A Screw Size Chart To Go Right Inside the Cover of One of the Wing Extensions.

I don't need a screw size chart very often, but when I did need it, I couldn't find it.  Or, if I did find it, it was scrumpled and wrecked under a pile of wood scraps.  So, I love that the screw size chart is safely stuck to the top of one of the wing extensions on the Kreg Jig K5.  No more searching or running into the house to print out another screw size chart.

Depth Setting Measurements Much Easier to Read.

On the Kreg Jig K4 Master System, the measurements for setting the jig depth were molded into the side of the jig, meaning they were the same color.  On the Kreg Jig K5 they are printed in white!

Much, much easier to see,  and so much faster to reset!

The Depth Measurement is Easier With Locking Pin.

Kreg Tool has replaced the threaded knob with a quick release pin. To set the depth of the Kreg Jig K5, you just pull out the pin, slide the jig up or down according the measurements on the side, and release the pin.  The pin automatically locks.  Double check the lock by trying to pull the jig up.

So simple, and so fast!

Setting up the Drill Bit is Even Easier!

Kreg Tool devised a simpler, almost fool-proof way, to set the stop collar on the pocket hole drill bit.  On the K4 the drill bit sometimes would move when trying to tighten the stop collar.  With the stop collar set up block, you just
set the height of the jig;
find the right length of the pocket hole screw;
find that length on the stop-collar set-up block;
drop the pocket hole drill bit into the Kreg Jig K5 so the tip goes into the right hole in the set-up block; and
tighten the stop-collar into position.

No worry, no fuss, no bother!  And then you just put the stop collar set-up block into the storage space in one of the wing extensions.

The Dust Collection Cover Swivels!

The wood chip collection system simply snaps into place at the front of the Kreg Jig K5.  It is designed to accept the standard 1 1/4" shop vacuum hose.

Not only does the removal of saw dust and chips help keep your work area clean, it helps to speed up your drilling time.  If you are not using a saw dust removal system, it is recommended that you drill partway, back the drill up so that the saw dust and chips can be cleaned from the hole, and then finish drilling the hole.  So drilling each hole takes longer.

The dust collection system also helps reduce heat buildup, which extends the life of your drill bit.

So what?  The Kreg Jig K4 Master System also has a dust collection port.

The big difference is that this one swivels so that you can attach your vacuum hose from either the right or the left, whichever works best for you!

A Workpiece Stop is Included!

Sometimes you want to drill the pocket holes in the same position on a bunch of pieces - for example, when you are building a Mission Style Table.

Kreg Tool Company included a system for connecting a workpiece stop right to the Kreg Jig K5. The connection is with keyholes so putting the stop on and off is literally a "snap."

So you can set it up once, and drill multiple pieces very quickly!
