Garage Storage Plans
Affordable, Versatile
and Easy to Build!

These Garage Organizer Plans are Available from Kreg Tool Company.

These garage storage plans would be an excellent way to get started on your lifetime of building with your Kreg jig!  Kreg Tool Company created this plan as part of the Kreg DIY Project Kit, so this plan uses all of the tools that come with that kit:  the Kreg Jig; the Kreg Rip-Cut; and the Kreg Shelf-Pin Jig.

BUT, if you don't need those tools, you can buy the plan separately.  We give you the link for that at the bottom of the page.

Organizing the garage is a lifelong process!  The storage needs change as your family's activities and interests change.  This plan provides the flexibility and versatility to adapt to your life changes.   It is designed to be built in sections, so you can customize to fit your space and your needs.

It is also designed to hang on the wall, instead of resting on the floor.  Very important!  This saves the floor space for lawn mowers, snow blowers, and all other tools on wheels.

Woodworking Tools Needed to Build These Kreg Plans.

These garage storage plans from Kreg Tool Company require only a few tools. The woodworking HAND tools are:

  • Kreg jig;
  • woodworking clamps;
  • tape measure; and
  • pencil.

You will need the following woodworking POWER tools:

  • circular saw; and
  • drill.

On a project of this size an electric sander would be most helpful!  Since this project is designed for use in the garage, sanding would not be as important as, for example, the entryway organizer.

Always make sure
you wear your safety glasses
when using your power tools.

 Materials List for Garage Organizer.

Materials Needed To Build This Kreg Jig plan:

These garage storage plans are designed to be built in sections.  Then you organize the various components for your situation.

  • (1) 24" long 1x4" board; and
  • (25) 1 1/4" coarse Kreg screws.

To build the large box with one adjustable shelf, you will need:

  • (1) 48" by 48" 3/4" thick plywood;
  • (1) 24" long 1x4" board;
  • (25) 1 1/4" coarse Kreg screws; and
  • (4) 5 mm shelf pins. (optional)

To build the tower section with 3 adjustable shelves, you will need:

  • (1) 4x8' sheet 3/4" thick plywood;
  • (1) 24" long 1x4" board; and
  • (30) 1 1/4" coarse Kreg screws; and
  • (12) 5 mm shelf pins.

As you decide which component to build, and how many of that module, you can just add up the materials needed.

The plan itself gives you some tips on picking out your plywood.  You could also learn more by visiting Wood Working Tips Plywood on our site.

You will use 1 1/4 inch coarse Kreg screws while building each section.  If you can't find them at your big box store or local hardware store, click on the link, or on the photo to buy them directly from Kreg Tool Company.

The Approximate Cost
to Build These Plans?

PROJECT COSTS:

THIS IS AFFORDABLE!  The materials are in the stacks at your local lumber store - nothing fancy, nothing expensive, and nothing hard to find!

If you were to build these garage storage plans from sanded pine plywood:

The costs to build the small box are approximately $22.
(You will have a section of plywood left over.)

The costs to build the large box are approximately $25.

The costs to build the tower are approximately $45.

These costs do not include anything for painting the final project, or for hanging the various components on the wall.  Hanging will require some additional materials, such as wood to use as ledger, and additional screws to attach the various pieces securely to the wall.

our Hints, Tips and Recommendations!

The organizer plans from Kreg Tool Company are excellent!  A beginner woodworker could build these garage storage plans, as shown in the photo, in just a couple of week-ends.

BUT you don't have to build them as shown! The printed plan is put together in sections, so that it is easy to start with just one component.

All the information needed to build each type of organizer unit is right there.  AND, I mean ALL!  It starts with a complete materials list, a list of tools needed, cutting diagrams, and numerous tips. Each step is very detailed, including step-by-step, colorful diagrams.

We recommend you read these garage storage plans through before starting, and then review the Project Notes at every stage of building.  The "Project Notes" and "DIY Tips" are very helpful.

This plan uses one type of pocket hole joinery:  right angle - which is what you use most of the time.  The Kreg Right Angle Clamp would make the job much easier.

If you didn't buy the Kreg DIY Project Kit (this plan is Free with that kit), the purchase price of $15 for this plan is well worth it!
