Woodworking Tools Needed to Build a Computer Desk.
This woodworking beginner plan from Kreg Tool Company requires the following woodworking HAND tools:
- Kreg jig;
- woodworking clamps;
- tape measure; and
Always make sure you wear your safety glasses when using your saws or drills.
You will need the following woodworking POWER tools:
jig saw, circular saw and drill.
An electric sander would be easier than hand sanding, but it is not absolutely necessary.
Here is a List
of the Materials
for This Pocket Hole Plan.
- (4) 48" x 48" x 3/4" thick sheet of plywood;
- (1) 24" x 24" x 3/4" thick sheet of plywood;
- (1) 24" long 1 x3 board;
- (6) 96" long pieces of 1/4" x 3/4" screen molding;
- (7) 1 1/4 inch coarse Kreg screws; and
- (58)# 18 x 3/4" brads.
may not be able to find the screws at your local hardware or big box
store. By clicking on the photo of the screws, you can buy them
directly from the Kreg Tool Company.)
The plan recommends you NOT use sheathing plywood, which is normally used for construction purposes. To learn more about selecting your plywood, visit this page.
The Estimated Project Costs for this Kreg Jig Project are Below.
To build this Kreg plan from a sanded pine plywood, your costs would be approximately $125, not including the cost of your finishing materials.
To build this desk from a hardwood plywood, your costs would be approximately $50 more.
Compare those to the cost of a store-bought chipboard desk with a wood-grain printed paper laminated top (like the one I'm sitting at), and you realize building this very solid, plywood desk makes great sense!

We Have None!
We had every intention to build this computer desk when we first received it. The dimensions were perfect for the home school desk we need, but the configuration just didn't quite fit for us.
We are in the process of designing our own desk. And taking some of the ideas from this plan to incorporate in ours.
Either way, the purchase price of $7 is well worth it.
